The Aim

  • To provide knowledge about the type of people who suffer a significant ankle ligament injury
  • What it is about those people and their injury that may mean they go on to develop OA 
  • What things influence this
    • i.e. who is more likely and who is less likely to go on to develop OA after a significant ankle ligament injury

The Study

  • An observational study looking at the link between ankle injuries and osteoarthritis.
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Patients aged 18-70 with isolated ankle injuries
    • Who need an x-rays and the x-ray is negative for fractures
    • Within 2 weeks of injury
